Laubabwerfender Strauch oder Kleinbaum, Wuchs zuächst aufrecht, später rundlich, elliptisches gezähntes intensiv purpurrotes Blatt, ungefüllte leuchtend rosa Blüte im März/April, essbare rote Frucht (Pflaume), die einer Kirsche ähnelt.
